KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized documents from the Tourism Malaysia office in Putrajaya.
Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab confirmed the seizure.
“They have got the documents and are studying it,” he told reporters after meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons at Menara Ilham here on Monday.
“This is something you should get from the MACC,” he added.
This came after former Tourism Malaysia chairman Wee Choo Keong raised questions over a RM99mil deal between a local company and Tourism Malaysia, which he claims was inked in just one day.
Wee, who on May 31 labelled the agreement a “Speedy Gonzales contract”, alleged that the deal was made against the ministry’s procurement regulations.
The contract in question involved the local company acting as a go-between for Tourism Malaysia and a China-based firm to promote Malaysia on social media platforms.
