Travel fair offers more than tour deals

MAKING travel plans? Then look out for Mita Travel Fair which returns for its third edition to provide holiday-goers with a wide range of value-for-money travel packages and attractive fares.

Hailed as Malaysia’s “largest free admission tourism fair,” the event will be taking place from Jan 19 to 21 at the newly-opened Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Persiaran Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking at a press conference, Mita Travel Fair 2018 organising chairman Adam Kamal Ahmad Kamil said this year’s fair would be larger than previous years, with the aim to promote tourism products and destinations in Malaysia.

“From 150 booths when we first started in 2016 to 650 booths in 2017, we are looking at 1,000 booths this year.

Among the highlights is the Happy Hour sale offering theme park entry passes at RM8 nett and hotel stays at RM88 per night.

Visitors can anticipate discounts of up to 70% on certain routes by AirAsia, the fair’s official airline partner, while official state partner Tourism Johor will be showcasing the first and only Recreational Vehicle (RV) in the country.

Besides exhibitors throwing in great deals, visitors can look forward to indulging in a wide spread of multicultural delicacies at the Malaysian Food Festival while exploring MyKraf and Made Malaysia Fest for everything made in Malaysia.

The three-day fair will introduce the first Tourism Professionals Meet (#TPM2018), held exclusively for the travel trade where top tourism personalities share and discuss latest trends and insights through seminars as well as workshops.

“Also a first is the World Travel Fair, which comprises 20% of the booths, to introduce new travel destinations while offering amazing outbound package deals,” said Adam Kamal.

The Business Networking session expects 100 buyers consisting of travel agents from Europe, the US, Indian sub-continent, China and Asean, which potentially provides business opportunities to exhibitors and participants of #TPM2018.

Tourism professionals and students are encouraged to register.

“Mita is not just an ordinary travel fair but a game changer for the tourism industry to showcase innovative and new products for both domestic and international markets,” said Mita president Uzaidi Udanis.

This year, Mita Travel Fair 2018 goes digital with the usage of QR Code for registration and contest participation.

To be eligible to win prizes including an iPhone X, visitors will only need to register in advance.

Opening hours are from 10am to 8pm and entrance is free.

“Mita Travel Fair 2018 is an ideal platform for the travel trade, especially new players, to network and learn all about the industry under one roof.

“With all the new elements this year, those in the travel trade should not miss it and I am very optimistic that we will achieve our target this year.

“I hope to see a bigger Mita travel fair next year. That will be a build-up for us for Visit Malaysia 2020,” said Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board domestic and events division senior director Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar.

Mita Travel Fair 2018 is the brainchild of industry experts from the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (Mita).

Supported by Tourism and Culture Ministry and Tourism Malaysia, Mita Travel Fair is also working with non-governmental organisations such as Malaysia Tourism Council, PATA Malaysia Chapter, Malaysian Indian Travel and Tour Agents Association, Malaysia Kampungstay and Homestay Association as well as government agencies including Malaysian Productivity Corpo-ration, Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang as well as Agriculture Ministry to bring in more variety and products for visitors.
